Crossfit is a fitness and conditioning system used by many elite athletes, military, police and fire departments all over the world. It is highly effective at creating what we call “elite fitness”. This is very similar to what a martial artist would call a black belt. It’s both a fitness and skill based system that takes both training and practice to master, which is something that can take years.
CrossFit was specifically designed to develop general physical preparation and skills, which means it can be used by anyone for anything – from simply improving your way of life to helping you to do the impossible! People that CrossFit are usually astounded by the results – they are suddenly able to do things that were never in their realm of possibility, like a rope climb, pull up or handstand – so for them, they quite literally, “Do the Impossible!” Our goal is to get you in and out with a quick, constantly varied workout that will leave you feeling exhilarated and prepared for anything. Lastly, it's worth noting that every CrossFit workout is completely scaled to the individual - this means that you will work at your own pace and intensity and that a Certified CrossFit Coach will ensure that you only execute movements that you are comfortable with.
Getting started with CrossFit is simple!
Come in and experience Cuyahoga CrossFit! We offer FREE trial sessions at 10AM every Saturday morning. This allows you the opportunity to meet us, and find out firsthand what we do and who we are.
If it's a good fit, we will assess your current ability, discuss your goals and answer any questions concerning any injuries and/or preexisting conditions.
If you, and we, decide that Cuyahoga CrossFit is for you, then your next step is to choose from One of our Three Introductory Training Curriculum. Each of the three options are based on your current level of Fitness and understanding CrossFit training. Each option will assure you are competent in performing the fundamental CrossFit movements and CrossFit progression principles. Each of these Classes will ensure a seamless transition into our CrossFit Complete training sessions.
OPTION 1: CrossFit Express
Crossfit Express is a quick and intense crossfit-style workout designed to get you in and out in 30 minutes. Our Crossfit Express WODs (Workout of the Day) include a brief 5-10 minute warm up a 15-25 minute workout.
Crossfit Express is perfect for those that are new to CrossFit, looking to get back in shape, have limited time to devote to fitness, and/or are interested in learning the fundamental movements and principals of CrossFit.
Lastly, it's worth noting that every Crossfit Express workout is completely scaled to the individual - this means that you will work at your own pace and intensity and that a Certified Crossfit Coach will ensure that you only execute movements that you are comfortable with.Our goal is to get you in and out with a quick, constantly varied workout that will leave you feeling exhilarated and prepared for anything.
Please note there is no heavy bar work, so there is no need to complete our Crossfit On-Ramp course. However, this program can be a great ancillary to On-Ramp as well as a way to ease into our regular CrossFit Complete WODS if you so choose.
OPTION 2: CrossFit OnRamp
Our Crossfit On-Ramp Course consists of a minimum of six, 60 minute private coaching sessions, systematically designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and general preparedness necessary for success in our Crossfit Complete classes.
By offering one-on-one training sessions, we minimize distractions and can pay maximum attention to your individual needs. Students will be left with "homework" and other study materials after each session to ensure that you are maximizing the benefits of each of these training sessions.
OPTION 3: Test-Out
Cost: Free Re-Test: $60
Those who are:(1) Experienced in the discipline of CrossFit & Olympic Weightlifting (2) Have been through a Crossfit OnRamp course (either at Cuyahoga Crossfit or another facility) (3) Have been actively participating in Crossfit for a minimum of 3 months, may test-out of On-Ramp Program and move directly into our CrossFit Complete Group classes by scheduling an evaluation with a coach. The two-part practicum and short multiple choice quiz will provide our coaches an objective assessment of your physical and educational CrossFit competency. Eligibility for the Test is determined by a Cuyahoga CrossFit Coach.
